Inkaterra La Casona is Cusco’s first boutique hotel and first Relais & Châteaux property in Peru. Strategically located in the heart of the city at the traditional Plaza de las Nazarenas, it is a striking 16th Century manor house carefully restored to emphasize the mélange of cultures and traditions. It was home to Spanish conquistador don Diego de Almagro (1534) and Simón Bolívar after his victory in the battle of Ayacucho (1825). Inkaterra has meticulously restored 11 suites, maintaining the original design and architecture around an open patio.
This exquisite 16th-century colonial manor was one of the first Spanish buildings in Cusco, located just steps away from the picturesque main square. Once occupied by the conquistadors of Peru, it is now an exclusive boutique hotel that has been carefully restored to retain its historical heritage and décor. With its suites set around a Spanish courtyard, replete with antiques and original architectural details, Inkaterra La Casona offers sober elegance without sacrificing authenticity. This is the perfect base from which to explore the vibrant capital of the Incan Empire and absorb the mysticism of the surrounding Andean valleys and villages.

On the mountainside, close to the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel, a carpet of native orchids - the largest natural display in the world - decorates the land. In this property, as well as in its sibling hotel Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba, quinoa and corn are harvested by hand with oxcarts in the organic farms. With these ‘zero carbon’ organic products, the cuisines of Inkaterra properties (including also the Inkaterra La Casona Hotel) explore the flavours and culinary secrets of the Andes. Sustainable cocoa production, close links with the local communities, environmentally friendly excursion: on all fronts, Inkaterra properties located in the Southern Amazon of Peru, also support biodiversity. A future project in Northern Peru will soon be part of the Inkaterra family and preserve a new corner of heaven alive, encouraging responsible fishing and actions to make the region the country’s No. 1 marine reserve.
